Tim has spent the last few years of his life travelling from place to place, following his father’s job. He rarely stays long enough to make any friends, and now he’s come to Wattleford where a patch of wasteland is marked for development. A natural playground for the children, it has, over the centuries, sheltered humans and wildlife amongst its trees and shrubs. Tim find himself strangely in tune with the peoples of the past, but the town council has plans to develop the wasteland. Modern machines bring destruction and change, and Tim and his father are all that stand in their way. Read the first chapter - click here! £6.50
An Amazon reader: “Beautifully crafted book, page-turning plot, full of issues to discuss with children. I shall certainly be looking to buy multiple copies of this for a class study with year 5 as the environmental issues tie in well with a class project. The book is meaty enough for year 6 pupils to read as a class. Would be an excellent independent read too for reasonably confident readers. Themes include bullying, family issues, environment vs. town planning. There are also historical links. Set in autumn and mentions fireworks so would be a good read for Autumn Term.”
